Welcome back to another year of learning at HCCS!
We are excited to start the journey of elementary education, there are many new and exciting things that will be occurring this year ! Students will notice right away that we have 'line up' lines on our tarmac to help students stay organized and also there are some new games painted on the tarmac which will provide hours and hours of learning and fun!
There are a few pieces of important information for the school year below:
Staff will once again create field trip learning experiences, if parents or guardians would like to volunteer, we encourage you to obtain a Vulnerable Sector check from the OPP so that you will meet all Board requirements in order to volunteer at HCCS. Check in with our Office Manager, Mrs. Fullerton for more information.
Pizza and milk sales information will come out in the next week or so. All sales are to go through school cash online, please set up your account - it'll be good until your child graduates high school !
Have a beautiful weekend with your family, we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday September 5!
Take good care
Tracy Dinsmore, Principal

We ask that parents do not drop students off before the 8:45 bell as there is no supervision until that time.
Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor wear & some ways to keep themselves protected on sunny days!
This year staff and students will focus on a character trait each month. For the month of September HCCS will be focusing on GOAL SETTING. Please keep our character education initiatives in mind and speak to your child about what it looks like, feels like and sounds like. Building strong character helps students develop life-long skills that will lead them to success.
My door is always open, and I value your input and feedback. My goal is to provide all students with an excellent education in a safe and supportive environment, in partnership with staff, parents and the community. You are welcome to chat with me either through a phone call, or email me at [email protected].
Attendance & Bussing
It is crucial that we know when and why students are away. Please call the school 519 794 2729 x100 to leave a voice message for Mrs. Fullerton, our office manager, or text the school cell phone at 519-385-0923 (We do not take calls on the cell phone). When texting please ensure you include your child’s name and why they are away. The first time you text, please include whose phone you are texting from so we can add to our contact list (contacts get deleted over the summer).
If your student is absent and we don’t hear from you, we will be calling you or the emergency contact. Thank you for helping us with this important task.
Similarly, if your child is not riding the bus home, you can either call, send a note, or text the school cell phone. The earlier you can let us know the better. Bus lists are printed by 2 pm and when you call late in the day, it’s challenging to get that information to teachers before dismissal. Please do not email attendance information or bus changes as we may not get emails in time.
School Council
The School Council will meet on Sept 13 @ 6:30. We always welcome new parents and community members. Come out to hear more about the wonderful supports provided by this wonderful group!
Did you know there is a free math support program? Students in Grades 4 to 11 can get free math tutoring using Mathify.
