Wecome to Holland Chatsworth Central School

Principal’s Message

In demonstrating our commitment to equity and inclusive education in a safe and accepting school environment, schools in Bluewater District school Board will embrace diversity and show support by raising the Progress Pride Flag during the month of June.

WOW June already!! - It's so wonderful that we have warm weather and sunshine to enjoy!!

Thank you so much to the HCCS School Community for all the support for all students this year! We have witnessed a tremendously wonderful group of parents that bring forward positive participation in the school community and we are so proud to have all of your support.  I can barely believe we are coming up to the end of the year already!

With this year being a year where we can create field trip learning experiences, we continue to encourage parents to obtain a Vulnerable Sector check from the OPP so that you will meet all Board requirements in order to volunteer at HCCS. A special note for those parents and guardians that do have the Police check completed – PLEASE drop into the school during the month of June to complete an Offence Declaration. This allows you to continue volunteering without going through the Police process again. Check in with our Office Manager, Mrs. Fullerton for more information.

We continue to look forward and plan for the 2024-2025 school year - if you know of any families that may be moving to our area, please encourage them to call the school 519-794-2729 ext. 521 to speak with Mrs. Fullerton about a registration package.

Have a beautiful summer holiday with your family, we look forward to seeing everyone again in September!

Take good care

Tracy Dinsmore, Principal

Class Placements for 2024/2025

Staffing and classroom organization discussions for the next school year are well underway. However, we would like you to know that changes can occur in our plans that may result in re-organization during September/October. As for all students in our Board, placement in classes during the month of September is tentative and is subject to change while the school’s final enrolment is determined. There is potential for your child to have a change in classroom or teacher after school begins. We truly appreciate your understanding in this process. Initial class placements will be available on the first day of the 2024/2025 school year.

A MESSAGE FROM MINISTER LECCE June 2023

June 1 marks the beginning of Pride month in Ontario and around the world. For many, Pride is a time to celebrate the things that make us unique and special, to look to community for acceptance and support and to demonstrate our commitment to making every single person feel welcome.

Recognizing that many 2SLGBTQ+ students face increasing levels of bullying, harassment, and mental health issues, it is my expectation that school boards will redouble their efforts to protect these students and ensure their inclusion within Ontario schools.

It is incumbent on all school boards to ensure all students – most especially 2SLGBTQ+ students – feel supported, reflected in their schools, and welcomed within our communities. That includes celebrating Pride in a constructive, positive and meaningful ways to affirm that 2SLGBTQ+ students know that their educators and staff, school board administrators, and government stand with them.

We firmly believe that all publicly funded schools must be safe spaces for all children, regardless of race, heritage, faith, sexuality, and gender.

My message to children in our schools, particularly 2SLGBTQ+ students is that Ontario’s government sees them, values them, and we are proud to stand with them.

Sincerely,

Stephen Lecce

Minister of Education

In all Bluewater Schools we are in line with the Ministry’s directives and are here to educate and support all students. Minister Lecce’s message is a welcome voice of public support. In line with Board Procedure, we will be flying the Pride Flag during the month of June

HCCS Staff

Bluewater District School Board is developing its Multi-Year Strategic Plan and wants to hear your voice! Students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members are invited to participate in a voluntary and anonymous survey to help determine board goals and priorities in supporting student success and well-being for the next three to five years. The survey is open until June 30, 2024 at this link: https://tejoin.com/scroll/413629420

Did you know there is a free math support program? Students in Grades 4 to 11 can get free math tutoring using Mathify

Pizza and Milk

Pizza, Milk, and Sub, contracts go out via School Cash for next year in September.  Please remember to communicate with your child if they will be receiving these. Some students think they should be but in fact are not, leading to some disappointment. We thank our parent volunteers and our staff for assisting in making this happen for students!

School Council

The School Council will meet again on June the 5th at 6:30 in the library.  We always welcome new parents and community members.  Come out to hear more about the wonderful supports provided by SC!

We ask that parents do not drop students off before the 8:45 bell as there is no supervision until that time.

Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor wear & some ways to keep themselves protected on sunny days!

My door is always open, and I value your input and feedback. My goal is to provide all students with an excellent education in a safe and supportive environment, in partnership with staff, parents and the community. You are welcome to chat with me either through a phone call, or email me at [email protected].

Attendance & Bussing

It is crucial that we know when and why students are away.  Please call the school 519 794 2729 x100 to leave a voice message for Mrs. Fullerton, our office manager, or text the school cell phone at 519-385-0923 (We do not take calls on the cell phone).  When texting please ensure you include your child’s name and why they are away.  The first time you text, please include whose phone you are texting from so we can add to our contact list (contacts get deleted over the summer).

If your student is absent and we don’t hear from you, we will be calling you or the emergency contact.  Thank you for helping us with this important task.

Similarly, if your child is not riding the bus home, you can either call, send a note, or text the school cell phone. The earlier you can let us know the better. Bus lists are printed by 2 pm and when you call late in the day, it’s challenging to get that information to teachers before dismissal. Please do not email attendance information or bus changes as we may not get emails in time.
